The oldest form is the head of a kneeling person, drawn with the body; the meaning page came much later.
用法
- Means "page" and is also the measure word for pages: 第三页 (dì sān yè) page three, 一页纸 (yì yè zhǐ) one sheet.
- Everyday digital use: 网页 (wǎngyè) web page, 主页 (zhǔyè) homepage.
- Note the reading is yè: the same syllable as 业/夜, so listen for context.
