- Red, and bare/empty: 赤色 (chìsè) red, 面红耳赤 (miànhóng-ěrchì) flushed red (with anger or embarrassment), 赤字 (chìzì) a deficit ('in the red').
- 赤裸裸 (chìluǒluǒ) means stark-naked / blatant; 赤脚 (chìjiǎo) barefoot; 赤手空拳 (chìshǒu-kōngquán) empty-handed; 赤诚 (chìchéng) utterly sincere; 赤道 (chìdào) the equator.
