Bright gives the sound and the dish the meaning; the bronze form added a moon to the top part of the oldest form.
用法
- An alliance/sworn pact: 联盟 (liánméng) league/alliance, 同盟 (tóngméng) alliance, 加盟 (jiāméng) to join (an alliance, or a franchise), 盟友 (méngyǒu) ally.
- 海誓山盟 (hǎishì-shānméng) means vows of eternal love. Also an administrative division in Inner Mongolia (盟).
