How it came to be
The mound gives the meaning and the right part the sound; the simplified form writes that part with a simpler shape.
用法
- 大陆 dàlù means both "continent" and, in everyday PRC usage, "the mainland" as opposed to Taiwan or Hong Kong.
- 陆续 lùxù is a common adverb for things happening one after another over time: 客人陆续到了 (kèrén lùxù dào le), "the guests arrived one after another."
- 登陆 dēnglù literally "to make landfall" (a ship, a storm) has picked up the extended tech sense of "to log in" to an account or platform.
