How it came to be
It began as a kneeling person with a part for the sound; the signs for walking and for a foot were added later to stress the action.
用法
- Two threads: to drive/manage: 御风而行 (yù fēng ér xíng) ride the wind; and to defend/resist: 防御 (fángyù) defense, 抵御 (dǐyù) to resist/ward off.
- Also 'imperial': 御用 (yùyòng) for the emperor's use / (derogatory) a hired mouthpiece, 御膳 (yùshàn) imperial cuisine.
